Food was OK, good service, spectacular view

Typical waterfront restaurant. The food was horrific and the mixed drinks were awful too.

The ability to sit outside by the lake is great. But we were alittle disappointed in the food quality. It might have been just a bad day. I realize that people have bad days all I'm saying is step it it up on the quality of the product your serving and this would be one of the best places to go and eat.

Food is good. Can't beat the view and waterfront location. I sit outside and watch the ferry come and go.

The view is great, the service is good and the food is okay; the club sandwich was okay, the buffalo chicken wings were dry and over done, the hummus plate was pretty good and I am pretty sure the flat bread crust was a frozen out of the box one that wasn't good at all, toppings okay.AND, not "real" hot sauce selection other than Tobasco.We'll likely go again this season but likely try other menu selections to see if they are better.

We visit this place every summer! The outdoor atmosphere is so lovely! The staff are always attentive and friendly. I would highly recommend the French dip; it is the best I have ever had!

Went in the evening, first time visiting. Did not have probably half of the menu items, waiter was nice and apologetic. Apparently a cook walked out midday. Food was ok, not very warm. Busser came out to gather dishes and basically pushed us out. Partner was still eating and drinking and the busser grabbed his cup to take it.

Third visit within a year. Worth the experience of boating over to a restaurant but slow service, mediocre food. Waitstaff was arguing with someone who was complaining about the same thing when we arrived. We ordered burgers with 3 different temperatures and all of them were burnt hockey pucks. Walked by the kitchen and they were all horsing around while people paid to wait for their mediocre food. Meh.

The club sandwich is not roasted turkey the place is not efficient at serving and I saw an undercooked hamburger

This place has a varied menu and the deck is right on Lake Champlain! Just absolutely beautiful. I didn't want to leave!

Server was nice enough and location is brilliant but avoid. Food and wait was miserable and that’s with only a 1/4 of the tables filled.

The service was OK and the food (branch menu) was delicious! (Or was it just us super hungry after climbing trails for half a day?) I wish it was cleaner inside, hopefully that wouldn't destroy the atmosphere of the early 19th century building.

Hard to find this place but they serve the coldest beer around and the food is superb. Look for the Essex ferry terminal and this place is next door.

What a great view of the lake. Service was good and food was okay except our hamburgers were supposed to be med rare and they came out way over cooked. Waitress offered to replace them but we declined and they did give us 1/2 off one of them. Other then main course it was pleasant experience.

We only had 30 min while awaiting the ferry, so we opted for a couple drinks at The Old Dock. Perfect. Wish we'd had time for dinner as the menu looked quite good. I had a tap beer and my wife a tangerine Martini. We got some of their parmesan fries. Sat on the deck overlooking the lake.

The food was pretty good, the view is beautiful. We also really enjoyed the musician, the lady who was singing has a very beautiful voice. Overall very pleasant experience.

Came on a busy Friday summer night and were seated quickly. Waitress was friendly and efficient. Food was absolutely delicious (especially their Parmesan fries!). Beautiful view and incredibly clean. Overall, great service and wonderful experience.

Spectacular views. Good food.

My daughter and mother went for lunch on Wednesday and said it was great. My daughter loves her pulled pork sandwich and the price of $12 was reasonable. The view is spectacular and I think the Old Dock does best when it focuses on burgers, sandwiches and great service.

Food was pretty good. The view was lovely. The service was very disappointing and management was unresponsive. We waited and watched as others that came in after us were greeted, seated, and brought their drinks and their food. When we spoke to the hostess, she put us off and never came to us. There was no apology or compensation for our poor treatnent. I heard the food has improved from last. The service and people skills need work.

Despite this being a 3 star rating, I do really enjoy coming here. The outdoor seating has great views of the lake as well as the ferry coming in. The service is slow, though the people are polite. Some of the food, such as The Dock Burger, is really good. Some of the food, such as the clams, is pretty disastrous. So basically, don't go too crazy when ordering. Get something basic, and you will most likely enjoy. Get something a little less basic, then good luck.

It was so nice sitting out on the deck by lake watching thr ferry cross Lake Champlain. Good food. Friendly service.

Our wait staff although pleasant and efficient broke a food service code in ny book. She referred to us as guys! Which i am not! The chicken wings were over cooked but the sauce was yummy.

Hit or miss. Kinda expect it being summer only. Still, a great place to stop for a drink or burger when you're on the boat.

The views and atmosphere are fantastic. Food was was good. Wait times may have been a little long but for a relaxed dinner with a great view and getting to enjoy time with friends it is perfect. This is absolutely a place worth stopping.

I make a point to take the ferry and visit this restaurant. I was very disappointed. Service was extremely slow, I ordered the Turkey Club and my wife ordered Clam Chowder. 45 mins later I got up to find my waitress who had disappeared. Turkey club looked like a two year old made it, and it tasted like it too. My wife said the Chowder was unremarkable.

Try their coconut shrimp. Good food, friendly service and great view.

The Coconut Shrimp was wonderful. Bathrooms clean. Great time in lovely Essex.

The view was nice, the outdoor chairs and tables left a lot to be desired. The staff was polite but fairly slow, I can’t imagine having to wait during peak hours. We went around 2:30 and there was basically no one there. Good luck trying to park, there’s room for about 12-14 vehicles near the restaurant. Food was “meh” at best. Pricey for what you get both in quality and quantity. Only real redeeming quality is the view and polite staff.

The cod fish was fresh and delicious. Great waitress. Nice view on the lake.

sad to say..the old dock has gone downhill.the wait for a table was negligible...45 min as the wait to be acknowledged at bar was easily 40. Understaffed we were told ..as they had lost three employees in the same number of days ( poor working conditions was the rumor) ...the bartender was obviously not...as he didnt know how to make simple drinks. Food was okay as was cost. And I cannot say enough good stuff about the sweet hostess trying her best to make everything ok ( our group was fine ..low maintenance..the views were enough) ...our waitress was super sweet too

I’ve been to this restaurant about 20 times over the last 10 years. Every time except for tonight, we walked right in. The food is okay, the service is okay, the view and the vibe is great. Tonight we showed up at 5pm to an empty restaurant and they refused to seat us. Said they had a few reservations ahead and could not seat us until 6:30. We watched the hostess refuse a few others. Let some people sit at the bars, refused others. It was a mess. She was on an irrational power trip. It’s a shame. We’ll never be back.

Went there yesterday by boat, 3 people. Beer was not cold, food was slow, cold and sub-par. Coming from colchester vt, probably will not pay the expense to venture there again. Wait staff was pleasant and courteous.

So far so good, pulled my boat to a slip and spending the night with wife and 2 kids. No charge. Dinner was great and views were excellent. Stopped at old dock again on aug20. Very nice dinner and enjoy having a slip and destination for our boat trip.

Delicious dockside style fare with a glorious lakeside location/view and none of the pretence!

Our server awkwardly displayed ignorance and unwillingness to give us good service. We ordered the lobsber ravioli and the fish and chips, which were good but over priced and over greasy.

Can't beat the location on a gorgeous summer day or evening! We kept it simple, and only got club sandwiches, but they were delicious. And they accommodated our gluten-free needs, as well.

Good food with beautiful outdoor seating right on the lake! You can pull your boat right up to the dock and get off at the restaurant! There are also swings, a sandbox and mini golf to keep the kids entertained!

Great spot on the shore of Lake Champlain. Breathtaking views of the lake and the Green Mountains of VT. I was lucky enough to get a table right on the water and soaked it all in. My waitress was INCREDIBLY attentive despite how busy she was (Caryn). I ordered the Caesar salad and had it topped with grilled chicken. It was good enough. Chicken was grilled well, but tasted like bottled dressing and boxed croutons. My table neighbor ordered a lobster roll that looked awesome! I will definitely go back ... beer's cold and the folks are nice. A few cute shops close by and a lovely drive from Plattsburgh along the lake.
